BENEFITS OF MASSAGE

Massage for Pain Management

Massage for Mental Health and Wellness

Experts estimate that upwards of ninety percent of disease is stress-related. And perhaps nothing ages us faster, internally and externally, than high stress.

WHAT IS MASSAGE CUPPING?

Massage Cupping bodywork therapy is a modified version of Chinese Cupping Therapy. By creating suction and negative pressure, Massage Cupping bodywork can drain excess fluid and toxins, loosen adhesions and lift connective tissue, and bring blood flow to stagnant muscles and skin. Massage Cupping bodywork therapy can easily accomplish a range of techniques, from lymphatic drainage to deep tissue release.

What is the difference between Massage Cupping bodywork therapy and Traditional Chinese Cupping Therapy?

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, stationary cups are placed on the skin and left for a period of 5-15 minutes. The goal of Chinese Cupping Therapy is to move stagnation of blood and chi, disperse internal heat, and other applications based on Traditional Chinese Medicine diagnostics.
Massage Cupping Bodywork uses moving, or “massage cups.” This is the more common use for massage therapists and other healthcare practitioners. Moving or rolling cups are used on the whole body. The entire back may be treated, including the neck, shoulders, middle and lower back, and sacral area. Hips, thighs, and hamstrings respond quickly to massage cupping. Abdominal Massage Cupping™ bodywork feels incredible. Arm and shoulder tension dissipates easily. Almost every area of the body will respond to this unique treatment.

What are the benefits of Massage Cupping bodywork therapy?

  • Draws inflammation out (does not add to it)

  • Increases local blood supply

  • Relieves chronic or acute pain

  • Softens and dissipates scar tissue

  • Restores and maintains flexibility

  • Increases range of motion

  • Drains lymph and stagnant fluid from tissue

  • Provides deep sense of relaxation

Why should I request Massage Cupping bodywork therapy?

Massage Cupping bodywork can have a profound and favorable impact on many different conditions, including edema, fibromyalgia, sports injuries, nervous tension, multiple sclerosis, trigger points, neuropathy, joint pain, colon disorders, cellulite, inflammation, and many more.

What is the discoloration that occurs after some treatments?

Chinese Cupping treatments leave circular marks, which are the desired result. Massage Cupping rarely produces this discoloration. If this appears during the treatment, it’s an indication of intense stagnation of body fluid and toxins in the area. This is not a bruise and will dissipate anywhere between a few hours and a few days. It’s also unlikely that it will recur in the same area.

Is Massage Cupping safe?

This technique is used safely on children, adults, and elderly persons. It should be noted, though, that this is an intense therapy and its impact on the body systems is significant. In particular, children, the elderly, persons with diabetes, and those on blood thinners should be treated gently. After any Massage Cupping bodywork therapy session, it is important to avoid exposure to excessive heat or cold, and to remain sufficiently hydrated. A complete assessment of specific conditions at the time of treatment must be taken into consideration by the practitioner. You are also responsible for communicating any changes in health status to your practitioner.
